Mended is based on Genesis 2:24. God says in His word, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
What does “one flesh” mean? What does this principle of “oneness” look like? Well, although it might be difficult to see “oneness”, it certainly is easy to see when it’s not there. Homes where there is fighting, bickering, complaining, and arguing on a regular basis could hardly be described as a place where husband and wife are being “one”.
Satan will use many things to divide a married couple. He will use jobs, hobbies, family, friends, foes, schedules, and even church ministry if he thinks it will work. It doesn’t matter to the devil as long as it divides a couple.
Ready for a challenge? Do an inventory of the activities, people and work related commitments in your life, and ask yourself this simple question: Is this activity (person, work obligation) drawing us as a couple closer together, or pushing us further apart? If it’s pulling you apart, or not promoting “oneness” then it may just be the tool that Satan could use to get the two of you going in opposite directions. It may not seem like it now, but often times those directions can lead all the way to the divorce court!
Why not prepare for the danger before it’s too late. Sit down tonight with your spouse and discuss and pray about anything that you view as a possible “wedge” between the two of you and then commit to getting rid of it. Sound easy? Not hardly….Satan won’t be happy. Some of the things we might need to get out of our lives might be the things we hold the dearest.
